Singapore Exchange Centre

Singapore | Office | 2001

Custom-designed for the Singapore Stock Exchange, the building has two identical 30-storey tower blocks standing over a podium structure. To emphasize the building’s symmetry, the tower roof profiles slant upwards towards the middle of the site.

Modelled after the Mercantile Exchange in Chicago, the 88-square metre trading floor at the heart of the SGX Centre is a large, high-ceilinged and column-free space. Outside, this windowless interior resulted in a long blank wall, designed as a 14-metre high marble mural representing a Chinese brush painting of an ocean scene facing Shenton Way.
