A STIMULATING JOURNEY

A collaborative project with Cox Architecture, the iconic Helix Bridge provides a key pedestrian link across the head of the Singapore River and serves as a viewing platform for events in Marina Bay. Its cutting-edge double-helix design, the first of its kind, is inspired by the form of human DNA, symbolising life and continued growth.

The main structure consists of an inner and outer helix frame that wrap around the bridge deck forming a cylindrical spiral. The inner helix supports a canopy made from laminated glass designed to provide shade and reduce solar heat.

The gently curving arc of the bridge accentuates its graceful form and provides a changing view for pedestrians as they move along the bridge. At night, the double-helix structure is illuminated by LED lights, creating a spectacular visual experience.
