ENGINEERING-IN-MEDICINE LAB FACILITY

This unique facility on the National University of Singapore (NUS) campus serves as an exciting one-stop incubator where clinicians, engineers, scientists and entrepreneurs can interact and collaboratively develop ground-breaking medical technologies for the benefit of society. It is equipped with state-of-the-art through-train facilities where innovations and value creation can be realised from conception to incubation and commercialisation.

The structural modulation of the building caters for the spatial needs of the specialised programme spaces, including the laboratories, whose modular concept eases standardisation, installation and potential future flexibility and expansion.

The facility is designed to the highest green building standards. Sustainable design features include vertical sun-shading fins around the building façade, and the intentional shifting, addition and subtraction of massing volumes to create interesting courtyards and green pockets. These not only allow daylight and natural ventilation to flow through the building, but also function as communal spaces.
