INTEGRATED LIFESTYLE DESTINATION

Set within the Civic District of Singapore, the Capitol development integrates new 21st century architecture and urban planning with three historic gems – Capitol Theatre, Capitol Building and Stamford House – to create a civic centre that is respectful of the past and celebrates the future. 

Working in collaboration with Richard Meier & Partners, the design architect for the project, the site was carefully transformed into a mixed-use development integrating the historic buildings with a new civic plaza, galleria, retail mall and residential towers. The vision was to create a unique mix of the traditional and the innovative, where history, culture, living, shopping and entertainment converge.

Conservation works included facade restoration for Capitol Building and Stamford House, and restoration of the Capitol Theatre heritage interiors. Sensitive new insertions using modern-day materials and technology, emphasising lightness, transparency and precision assembly, create a strong juxtaposition of old and new, contributing to a rich architectural experience.
