ENRICHING THE FOREST HABITAT AND BIODIVERSITY
Located at the southern end of Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, the 67-hectare Rifle Range Nature Park is part of a holistic approach to strengthen the conservation of the biodiversity in Singapore’s nature reserves and offer the public interesting alternative venues to enjoy nature-related activities.
Rifle Range Nature Park provides a complementary forest habitat for native flora and fauna found in the neighbouring nature reserve. The project includes arboreal aerial rope bridges across Rifle Range Road, first of such bridges Singapore to allow animals to move safely between the park and the nature reserve, with the aim of restoring the ecological connection between the two forest habitats.
As part of the sensitively enhanced nature park, visitors can experience the canopies of a regenerating secondary forest along an elevated walkway known as the ‘Sky Garden’, which stretches from Beauty World to the Sin Seng Quarry.
The former quarry has been transformed into a freshwater habitat with a lookout point for visitors to appreciate marsh birds, and will also feature hiking trails with varying levels of difficulty.
